11. The Fab 4 / The Smooth 4 Bets

"The Fab 4" Bet Type is made up of 2 distinct parts:

  1. Part 1 mirrors "The Faithful 5" principle, in that there should be 2 Bankers and 2 support matches to be laid out as Quadruple bets, where the fallback position of a Draw (or the Away) applies to the 2 support matches only. However, since there are only 4 matches, the number of Quadruples will only total 4 not 8.
  2. Part 2 offers a completely different scenario from the other Bet Types, in that it extends the betting to all the Trebles available from the 4 different Quadruple lines.

The result of applying Part 2 is that, from each Quadruple, 4 separate Trebles are available, although what happens is that some of those Trebles (but not all) are duplicated. This can lead to some radically different payouts from bet to bet. To overcome this (especially if you can't stand the excitement of not knowing what your bet will bring in), we suggest that the same technique of proportioning the stake is used as is employed for the "The Faithful 5". This variant we call "The Smooth 4".

For both these Bet Types you must check to ensure that the return(s) from the most likely winning line(s) will cover the total stake for all the lines placed. If not, the number of hedge bets must be cut back until that requirement is satisfied.

Both "The Fab 4" and "The Smooth 4" rely upon the same Banker and support matches as would be used for "The Faithful 5", and you can find all the details of these Bet Types on the same downloadable spreadsheet as the "The Faithful 5", except that they occupy a different worksheet.
